Best Story Of The Day

Hands down, it just doesn't get any better than this!

Bristol Palin's future mother-in-law arrested

Ah, those small-town values: "The mother of Levi Johnston, the 18-year-old boyfriend of Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin's teenage daughter, has been arrested on drug charges, the Anchorage Daily News reported Friday.Sherry L. Johnston, 42, has been charged with [...]

Campbell Olbermann????

My, my, my!  Campbell Brown must be channeling Keith Olbermann!  The CNN anchor (on the air in Olbermann's time slot, by the way) really laid into the McCain campaign last night.  For what? By the way, you'll find video clips on both the links below.

Campbell Brown Rips McCain Camp's "Sexist" Treatment Of Palin

A prominent female news anchor chastised the McCain campaign Tuesday evening for engaging in sexism and insulting behavior in its attempt to shield Gov. Sarah Palin from members of the press. In a fiery commentary, Campbell Brown laid into John McCain for casting a "chauvinistic chain" that ran over his running mate. Punctuated by a call to "Free Sarah Palin," the CNN anchor highlighted the attempt Tuesday by the McCain campaign to ban editorial reporters from covering Palin's visit with world leaders at the UN, as yet another [...]
And, NBC's Andrea Mitchell joined in the piling-on:

NBC’s Mitchell likens McCain-Palin media restrictions to experiences in North Korea, Syria, and Sudan.

Yesterday, media covering Gov. Sarah Palin’s (R-AK) visit to the United Nations revolted when the McCain-Palin campaign tried to back out of its promise to allow journalists to cover the governor’s meetings with various world leaders. Last night on MSNBC, chief foreign affairs correspondent Andrea Mitchell compared the whole affair to her experiences trying to [...]

Unbelievable!

Spent much time today watching the hearings on the financial bailout plan now before Congress. I'll say one thing, the folks on that banking committee aren't going to just roll over and accept the "hand it all over" proposal. I just don't see how there can be any agreement this week.  Wall Street was none too happy, either.  Down about 150 points.  There were some great questions asked by the senators, but I don't think many of them were happy with the answers they got.  I'll be looking for clips later.
In the meantime, the REALLY unbelievable event today.  Palin sits down to talk with real "world leaders", but kicks reporters out after a 29 second (yup, less than half a minute) photo op. Well....them reporter folks got all riled up.  Good for them...

Dear Media, pull your reporters from the Straight Talk Express

In the aftermath of the revolt against the Palin/McCain campaign kicking reporters out of the photo opps Sarah Palin is holding at the UN today, there's a larger question that remains. Why is the corporate media continuing to subsidize John McCain's free photo opps by having staff on his bus and plane? It costs a fortune to have reporters embedded with [...]

From The Trenches

This reporter has been on "Countdown" a couple of times.  From the Alaskan trenches, here's what's being talked about.

BATTLEFIELD ALASKA: THE WHITE HOUSE

Political partisanship has nothing to do with the current outrage of many Alaskans.  McCain/Palin stormtroopers have dropped into Alaska and taken over the department of law.  Alaska has become a battlefield in the war for the White House. Senator Hollis French, Senator Bill Wielechowki, Senator Kim Elton, Investigator Steve Branchflower and Walt Monegan are the [...]

Nice, Huh?

Well, it seemed that it might be a really interesting debate.  Until they modified the rules.

Debate Rules Modified to Benefit Palin

The New York Times reports that at the insistence of the McCain campaign, the debate between Gov. Sarah Palin and Sen. Joe Biden will have different rules than those for the Obama-McCain debate: [...]

Where's He Been?

If any of you were worried, you shouldn't be. I spent a couple of weeks babysitting the new granddaughter and still trying to figure out my next occupation.
Skimming through Bloglines tonight, I noticed a couple of notes about the RNC.  Palin's speech is getting a  lot of attention, but it appears to have sent more money to the Obama campaign than to McCain's.
And, from Tuesday night, word that Cindy McCain's outfit wasn't from Target.
Go ahead. Follow that link. We're not talking a few thousand bucks here. We're talking  MEGA bucks!
UPDATE:  Just one more little thing.  That big jet that Palin keeps saying she listed on Ebay and sold at a profit? Not quite the real story.
