The Torture Debate

Once again, the "real world" has kept me away from this keyboard. Apologies. Sincere apologies. In case you didn't see it, take a few minutes to watch Olbermann talk torture with Chicago radio guy, Mancow. Politically opposite, they find unexpected common ground on the issue of "waterboarding" after Mancow does what Hannity will not - lets himself BE waterboarded.

Olbermann vs Hannity

Quick Friday Followup to my Twitter post last night, taking not of Keith Olbermann's promise to contribute $1,000 to charity for every second that Sean Hannity is waterboarded.  Olbermann went off on Hannity last night, after Hannity argued that waterboarding is not torture and, in fact, really isn't all that horrible.

Careful With That Acronym

Whether you like Keith Olbermann, or not, you'll have to admit the #1 "Best Person In The World" tonight is a classic. Maybe because it's from my old home state of Iowa, but I thought it was a very cute story. Watch it. The whole thing will only take a minute or so. You will, at least, chuckle a bit!

Snicker Away

I haven't been watching "Countdown with Keith Olbermann" as much lately. I guess, after keep an eye and ear on news all day long, I'm burned out by the time 7 pm rolls around. Thanks to the MSNBC website, it's easy to sneak a peak at what I've missed. Keith's "Worst Person" segment last night punched a couple of my "favorite" people: Santelli and Limbaugh -

It's Not Surprising

My, but this is getting depressing. A handful of bad economic reports have stocks in (another) nosedive. I really need to turn off the TV, quit watching the news channels, and read. Usually, as I skim through the blogosphere, I find something that raises my spirits a bit. Those posts seem to become more infrequent each and every day.

If there is one bright spot, it would seem the Obama Administration thinks a bit more highly of journalists, abiding by the Freedom of Information laws to start. It's a total turnaround from the previous administration:

MSNBC: NSA regularly spied on US journalists, media outlets

MSNBC's Keith Olbermann interviewed a former National Security Agency analyst tonight. The analyst says that, under the ruse of making sure that the NSA did NOT target American media and journalists, they actually collected information on every [...]

History Lesson

Gather the kids around the 'puter screen or forward this to them all.  Olbermann put together a quite tasty summary of the Bush Administration. Tilted a bit, as you would expect from Countdown, but worth eight minutes of your time. It was, after all, eight years long. H/T Crooks and Liars:

Not to be outdone, here's David Letterman's Bush Speech Summary -

Palin's Very Bad Day

The trainwreck in Miami.  Via Keith Olbermann.

Just One Minute

If you're a fan of Keith Olbermann (heck, you might enjoy it even if you hate him), this is a marvelously well-edited 1:00 version of all of his "Special Comments". I truly had to chuckle out loud!

Well, Lookee Here!

Some of you are gonna hate to hear this, but it looks like Keith Olbermann's not going anywhere for a long time!  Like until after the 2012 elections!

Olbermann Extends MSNBC Deal…

MSNBC’s release on Olbermann extending his deal with MSNBC. Note the part about “play a prominent role in MSNBC’s coverage of all major news events”. Is that MSNBC’s way of saying Olbermann will be more than an “analyst” to get around saying that Olbermann will not just be an analyst after the Matthews/Olbermann implosion earlier [...]
You wonder why?

Olbermann, Too

Okay, Campbell Brown on CNN got the nod just below from a decent commentary.  Olbermann nailed the same topic, in a slightly different manner.

Olbermann's On A Roll

In case you haven't been following closely (and most of you, I realize, don't really care all that much), Countdown with Keith Olbermann has topped Bill O'Reilly's ratings seven of the past 13 nights and the past five in a row.  That's quite spectacular.  Bill-O says something's wrong with the ratings system. Keith's been busy cranking out a series of "Campaign Comments".  Are they the reason for the string of wins?  Might be..

Oh, by the way, Rachel Maddow (who follows Olbermann) has been running first or second with her new show. Nice work!

Olbermann and O'Reilly

Been meaning to point this out, but kos did it up right just now: In the key demographic (the 25-54 group advertisers love) Keith beat Bill-O several recent nights.  Rachel Maddow kept the string going in the following hour.  I love it when an underdog comes through!

O'Reilly's map, and ratings

...Olbermann and Maddow have both beaten their Fox News counterparts three of the five shows this past week -- a remarkable achievement given how dominant Fox's lead once was. And don't forget that O'Reilly once had a commanding lead as the most-watched cable news host. So when [...]

Tonight's Countdown

Olbermann has been on a roll lately. His numbers, with the "Campaign Countdown" pieces, have been great. Tonight's continues the tradition.

Campaign Comment

Olbermann nailed another one tonight. And he didn't even have to yell or shout. Just go and watch.

It's pretty darn good TV.

Chuckle A Bit

Okay, Wall Street gained 400 points today. Go figure. And, laugh a bit. From last night's Countdown with Keith Olbermann.

Countdown Loses A Regular

Dana Milbank was a regular contributor to Countdown with Keith Olbermann.  You remember him, dressed in hunter orange, talking about Dick Cheney...

No more. It's kinda sad, really.

Dana Milbank And Unhappy Endings

Since I was a little less than proactive about this issue last week on television (for reasons which I think will become readily apparent), I thought I'd offer a little preview of an item on tonight's Countdown. The headline: Dana Milbank won't be on the news hour any more [...]
