The Torture Debate
Once again, the "real world" has kept me away from this keyboard. Apologies. Sincere apologies. In case you didn't see it, take a few minutes to watch Olbermann talk torture with Chicago radio guy, Mancow. Politically opposite, they find unexpected common ground on the issue of "waterboarding" after Mancow does what Hannity will not - lets himself BE waterboarded.

Best Argument Yet
I've never been a huge Jesse Ventura fan, but he made one heck of a good point this week on The View. They were talking torture. Waterboarding, specifically. Take a look.

More Today Than Yesterday
Dick Cheney's being interviewed more these days than he was while in office. I think it's probably time to let him disappear from the limelight. Even George Bush has kept a low-key life since leaving the White House. Cheney, on the other hand, pops up for radio and TV interviews every week or so!
Cheney: "Mistake" For GOP To "Moderate," Glad That Detainees Were Waterboarded
Former Vice President Dick Cheney defended the Bush administration's use of waterboarding on Thursday, saying that, contrary to arguments made by Barack Obama, the techniques were a necessary last-resort measure to get information from detainees. But, wait! There's more!
"I don't believe that's true," Cheney said, when asked to respond to Obama's statement that interrogators may not have needed to resort to torture. "That assumes that we [..]
Cheney: ‘I think it would be a mistake’ for the GOP to become more moderate.

Susan Collins (R-ME) and Olympia Snowe (R-ME), along with Colin Powell, have said the GOP must move toward the center to expand its tent. In an interview with Scott Hennen, a North Dakota radio host, Cheney declared [...]
Zipped Lips
I don't want to drive any additional viewers to Sean Hannity on Fox News, but he's become spectacularly silent on this whole waterboarding issue. It's most ironic and quite funny, really.
Hannity’s Two-Week Silence: Is He Ready To Admit Waterboarding Is Torture?
Don't forget to check out my Arkansas posts at The ExaminerOn April 22, Fox News’ Sean Hannity volunteered to be waterboarded after ardently defending the practice and excoriating President Obama for ending the technique. “Clearly this president has not done his homework, and it is putting each and every American at risk,” Hannity said about ending torture. Declaring he is “for enhanced interrogation,” Hannity said [...]

The Changing Rules
After all the arguing in FAVOR of waterboarding, etc. look what's happening.
New DOD guidelines prohibit waterboarding, use of dogs.
The LA Times reports that the Pentagon has issued a new directive on detainee interrogations, explicitly prohibiting the use of dogs in interrogations. The directive also bans techniques taught at the U.S. military’s survival schools (SERE), which, as Steve Aftergood noted, includes waterboarding: – No dog shall be used as part of an interrogation [...]
