What's Wrong With Healthcare

Here's your assignment for the weekend. Set aside 40 minutes and watch Bill Moyers talk with the former head of PR for CIGNA insurance. You'll understand what's wrong with our healthcare system much better. THIS, my friends, is what journalism can be. Moyers asks all the right questions and gets honest answers.

The Supreme Court Confirmation Hearings

This is rapidly turning into a circus sideshow, thanks to the repetitious questions from Republicans. It's obvious that they're going to get pretty much the same answer every time they ask the questions. Turn the corner. Chart another course of questioning. Do SOMETHING different! By the way, know that Democrats have been repetitious at these events, too, but this seems a bit excessive...

Jefferson Beauregard Sessions is frustrated. He doesn't think Sonia Sotomayor is giving clear enough answers, the way Roberts and Alito did: [...]

HOW Many Hours?

Unbelievable! Get a life, people! Really! You can bet we'll be talking about this Friday afternoon, when Station X airs "The X Factor" live at 1:00 central time.

(Stat courtesy of the Seattle Times) Nielsen recently reported that there was an average of 233 million hours spent on Facebook in the month of April. 233 Million HOURS! Let me repeat that.. Americans are spending 233 million hours a month on Facebook. That is unbelieveable. I would like to think that the majority of the time [...]

The Push is On

Okay, time to hunker down, folks. The health care push is "game on".

President Obama has for the most part given Congress a wide berth as it crafts a health care reform bill, popping up now and again to remind party leaders of the importance of the initiative, which he now describes as [...]
The House kicked things up a notch today.
We have a bill and it's more than just a bit interesting.

Need A Reason to NOT Trust Glenn Beck?.

I've just never liked Glenn Beck. He shouts as much as Olbermann, but doesn't seem to have as much legitimate knowledge of much of what he talks about. I'm not thoroughly convinced about Keith, but am going to watch him tonight - first time in a long time - just to get a better handle on that issue. In the meantime, consider this classic bit of Beck buffoonery. Does he not have a producer?

Glenn Beck complains about softball questions to Sotomayor on day that no questions were asked.
Yesterday was the first day of the confirmation hearings for Judge Sonia Sotomayor’s nomination to the Supreme Court. The day consisted of opening statements by Sotomayor and by each member of the Senate Judiciary Committee, but no actual questioning. Glenn Beck apparently wasn’t paying much attention. “As our country burns to the ground,” bellowed Beck [...]

Success In The New News Industry | NewsTechZilla

Testing a new way to post....but this is actually a very interesting article.

Success In The New News Industry | NewsTechZilla

I’ve been kicking around an idea after reading the book Outliers: The Story of Success. One of the major themes of the book is that success doesn’t come just from having raw talent or outworking the competition. Successful people usually have talent, work ethic, AND are able to put them to use to become experts in [...]

Palin: All Over The Place

My goodness, but that was a rambling statement by Sarah Palin. More than a few cups of coffee, perhaps? She's not running for re-election.  Before you start figuring that means a presidential bid in 2012, she's also quitting as governor! Not exactly the kind of move most prospective presidential candidates would do.

Alaska Governor Sarah Palin is resigning. Reuters gives a few possible reasons. Since Palin has repeatedly said she's not a quitter, only this one makes sense to me: "She fears a looming political problem, perhaps even a scandal, and wanted out of the limelight, before the news broke." Her statement does not allude to [...]

Simply So Wrong, In So Many Ways

What the heck was the Washington Post THINKING?!?!?!?

The Washington Post has completely jumped the shark and lost any shred of credibility. The Post planned to sell access. DC access. Inside access. Remember how sanctimonious Dana Milbank was last week when Nico Pitney asked a question at the Obama press conference? Remember how Milbank disparaged the idea that any administration would work in synch with the media? On CNN's Reliable Sources, Milbank said, "What I have never done in my life, Howie, is worked in collusion with an administration..." Hmmm. But, this was [...]

I Guess We're Bored

I once watched Countdown with Keith Olbermann religiously. If I missed a night, it was DVR'd. No so anymore. What happened? It seemed to slip into the same thing, night after night. Is it a symptom of the election results? Keith does seem to still be beating up people over key issues. But, are they the RIGHT issues?

Healthcare and Ed

Man, talker Ed Schultz is all over the healthcare issue these days. I have to say, he's pushing the envelope and making some points.
