Sunday Morning

Taking my time getting up and around today. Trying, I guess, to stretch yesterday's lazy day into two of them. My Hawkeyes got their tails whooped, Arkansas beat what should have been a pushover team from east of here, but had to struggle.Not a good sign. The one big football positive came from daughter's Missouri Tigers.  They beat up on Nebraska before a HUGE crowd, winning 41 to 6! Having grown up right next to Nebraska, it does my Midwestern heart good to see somebody put a one-time dynasty in its place.


As for your reading today, I found an absolutly amazing post from an Iraq War veteran on AMERICAblog just moments ago.  I'm sure somebody will call him a "phony soldier", because he's speaking out against the war, but it seems obvious to me that John Bruhns writes from the heart.


Why I fight and why we all must.



As the war drums were beating for Iraq I knew something was wrong. I was paying attention to President Bush as he continually accused Saddam Hussein of possessing weapons of mass destruction and being linked to terrorist organizations such as Al-Qaeda. Yet, there was no solid proof that any of Bush's accusations had any validity to them. I guess if you repeat the same lies over and over again they begin to sound true.
