Let's expand just a bit on my earlier post about the economic troubles of the middle class. They are real, not imagined, for many Americans. Good, hard-working, people who find themselves facing tough times. For goodness sakes, I can tell you that income around here certainly hasn't kept pace with the rising cost of gas, groceries and utility rates. The fact that my electric bill is at least 38% higher than last year is not the result of any bad decision I made. The fact that a gallon of milk or a gallon of gas costs substantially more than last year is not the result of any bad decision I made. The fact that college tuition costs continue to skyrocket and really can't be covered by loans, grants and scholarships is not the result of any bad decision I made. True, better long-range planning would have helped, but never saw $15,000 a year for college on the horizon. You can do all the budget-cutting, belt-tightening and lifestyle-changing that you want, but a lot of folks are still coming up short each month. That's why the political promises they're hearing from the campaign trail are gaining traction. Keep in mind, I'm not saying Hillary Clinton gets my vote. I am saying that some of her ideas are sounding good to many...

What Clinton Really Said About Torture
Welcome to the ongoing drama What Clinton Really Said -- fill in the blank on subject or town here -- which has now become an ongoing and never ending saga. But at least people are starting to pay closer attention to the difference between sloppy, cut and paste reporting, and what Clinton actually says on any given issue or does in any given town. We're making a dent [...]
Okay, back to our main topic in this post. The economy: let's talk disconnect about the economy and a great example from yesterday's Republican debate.
It's The Economy, Stupid Redux
...Appropriately, this debate came on the same day that AP/Ipsos released results of its latest poll on the priorities of US voters (499 adults, Oct. 1-3, MOE 4.4%.) Take this notable finding from the poll: [...]
