Digging The Hole Deeper

Good old Glenn Beck just can't get things straight.  In fact, by trying to explain his stupid comments about the California fires, he's just digging his hole deeper. He could have said, "I said something that was wrong.  It was stupid.  I apologize."  But, no...he throws the blame back on critics!  Unbelievable!

California’s wildfires send CNN’s Beck into incoherence

The devastation caused by California’s wildfires is almost hard to believe. At this point, over 420,000 acres have burned, nearly 900,000 people have been evacuated, and nearly 1,200 homes have been destroyed. And CNN’s Glenn Beck is still focused on the patriotism, or lack thereof, of those in Southern California affected by the fires. Beck got things [...]

The stupidity continued Tuesday night:

Beck Blames California Wildfires On The ‘Damn Environmentalists’

Last night, CNN Headline News host Glenn Beck blamed California’s massive wildfires on the “damn environmentalists” and their “bad environmental policies.” He also claimed that global warming has nothing to do with the situation, stating, “[I]f I hear global warming one more time, blood is going to shoot out of my eyes.” To prove his points, [...]

Speaking of the fires, there are many reports tonight comparing the California situation with New Orleans and Katrina. Consider, for a moment, the reasons for the differences:

San Diego’s Qualcomm Stadium, the NOLA Superdome and the color of natural disaster politics

I was getting dressed this AM and heard a CNN report on the wonderful logistical planning that went into handling the people in San Diego displaced from their homes as fires rage there. National Guard troops were in place, food, water and even yoga classes awaited Californians who needed to de-stress from the trauma of [...]

And, widen things out to the "big picture" -

America Dries Up

When people talk about the risks of global warming, the discussion usually centers around rising ocean levels. We are all of us, skeptics and believers alike, aware of the images of Florida half-submerged, the Pacific islands obliterated, Louisiana gone. Too much water will flood coastlines throughout the world, bringing destruction in its wake. But the effect of global climate change is not always as obvious as a hurricane, not always as clear as a flood. It isn't always about [...]

Or, consider the Fox News approach:

Fox News: Al Qaeda is causing the CA wildires.

This morning on Fox News, hosts of the show Fox and Friends blamed the wildfires in California on a new culprit: al Qaeda. They pointed to a 2003 FBI memo, which raised the possibility that al Qaeda may try to set wildfires around the western United States. They also noted that men in a “hovering [...]
